1. Who we are
Bible Study Verse is a mobile application published by Özgür Gündüz (the “App”). Privacy questions may be sent to bookwinn@gmail.com.
2. Information you choose to provide
You may use core parts of the App without creating an account. If you create an account, Firebase Authentication processes your email address and authentication identifiers. The App may also store preferences and content you intentionally create, including:
- profile name and language preferences;
- bookmarks, highlights, notes, and reading history;
- reading-plan progress and reminder preferences;
- private reflection or prayer text that you choose to save.
3. Sensitive spiritual content
Notes, prayers, reflection text, mood entries, sensitive searches, and similar personal content are not sent as advertising or analytics events. We do not use this material to build advertising profiles.
4. Optional encrypted backup
Signed-in users may explicitly create an encrypted account backup. Supported personal content is encrypted on the device before it is stored in the account owner's private Firestore document. A valid Firebase session unlocks an account-specific key through our API; that key is not written to Firestore. Limited non-sensitive settings remain readable to the service, while notes, highlights, history, saved reflections, and similar personal backup content are stored as ciphertext.
No separate backup password is required. This is account-authenticated encryption, not a user-held recovery phrase or zero-knowledge backup: anyone who controls the connected account may request the key, and restoration may be unavailable after account deletion, provider lockout, or a service outage. Keep control of your sign-in account and use a strong device lock.
5. AI-assisted features
When you explicitly use an AI guidance feature, the text needed to answer your request may be sent over an encrypted connection through our Cloudflare Worker to OpenAI. AI processing is optional and requires consent where presented. Requests use store:false; Bible Study Verse does not write the original concern to its database or saved history. OpenAI states that API data is not used for training unless the API customer opts in, while default safety-monitoring logs may be retained for up to 30 days. Raw AI prompts are not advertising or analytics events. The App keeps sourced Bible text separate from generated guidance; generated text is not presented as Scripture.
6. Analytics, diagnostics, and advertising
Firebase Analytics is disabled by default. If you explicitly enable “Anonymous usage analytics” under Privacy & Data, the App sends only a fixed, coarse screen category and limited completion events such as onboarding, daily practice, plan, quiz, or share creation. It does not send Bible text or passage identifiers, prayers, notes, reflections, searches, account identifiers, user IDs, language, Bible package or source choices, or spiritual themes. Advertising storage, advertising-user-data consent, advertising personalization, and Analytics advertising-identifier collection remain disabled for this feature. You can turn it off at any time; the App then disables collection and resets its Analytics device data.
The App may show ads through Google AdMob, Meta Audience Network, and Liftoff Monetize through AdMob Mediation, and use Meta App Events for limited campaign measurement. Where applicable, the App gathers the required privacy choice before advertising or measurement SDKs start and requests non-personalized ads. Meta App Events is limited to automatic install and app-activation measurement; the App does not send custom feature events to Meta. Google, Meta, and Liftoff may collect and share the device IP address (used to estimate approximate location), ad or app interactions, SDK diagnostics, and device, app-set, network, or advertising identifiers for ad delivery and measurement, analytics, security, and fraud prevention. These data are encrypted in transit and processed subject to the privacy choices available in your region and each provider's terms. The App does not send reflection text, prayers, private notes, searches, passage activity, Firebase account identifiers, language or Bible-source choices, or spiritual themes as advertising or measurement events. Ads are not shown while reading Scripture, writing prayers, taking memory tests, or listening to audio. Optional rewarded ads never lock essential features.
7. Device permissions
The App may request notifications for reminders and uses network access for optional account backup, AI features, Bible-package downloads, and ads. Installed Bible translations remain available for offline reading and search. Permission requests are shown by the operating system and can be changed in device settings.
8. Data retention
Local data remains on your device until you remove it, clear application data, or uninstall the App. Account data is retained while your account is active and for the limited period needed to complete deletion, resolve security incidents, or meet legal obligations.
9. Your choices and rights
You can use the App without an account, turn optional anonymous analytics on or off, turn off reminders, withdraw optional AI processing consent, manage ad choices where available, export supported content, or request deletion. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to access, correct, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal data.
10. Account and data deletion
Use the in-app deletion flow or visit the account deletion page. You may also email bookwinn@gmail.com from the address associated with your account.
11. Children
The App is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. International processing
Service providers may process data in countries other than your own. We use providers and safeguards appropriate to the service and applicable law.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App, its providers, or legal requirements change. The revision date will be updated here, and material changes may also be announced in the App.
